First Year Forward 101

First Year Forward (FYF) 101 is FIE’s signature first-year, zero-credit academic enhancement program in Dublin.  It is grounded in High Impact education Practices.

The program focuses on Service / Community based learning.  The aims of the program are to nurture personal and social responsibility, integrative and applied learning and knowledge of human cultures.

Service / Community Based Learning is an established High Impact Practice. By virtue of students taking the program in Dubin in their first year, various other High Impact Practice outcomes are achieved such as 'Global Learning'.

Each of the sessions within the program have been specifically designed to be grounded in FIE’s values: Sustainability, Ethics and Human Rights and Inclusivity.

Most of our partners embed FYF 101 in the program they build with us.  We work with each institution to ensure that FYF 101 fits the academic program model that has been custom-designed for each university or college and reinforces the on-campus first-year experience.
